Hey friends,
Sorry it’s been a while!
Here’s a quick update for those of you following my fiction writing journey, just in case you missed my Live video earlier:
If you’d rather read about it than watch, here’s the summary:
📖 New horror novel in progress
I'm halfway through drafting my next horror story, probably the closest thing to a vampire novel I’ll ever write. It’s set in Canada (the first time I’ve set a story there) and I’m really enjoying writing it so far. Still early days, but I can’t wait to share more soon!
(Have you got a favourite vampire movie or book? Let me know in the comments so I can check it out!)
📚 Sequel to Soulburn
The sequel to my debut novel The Soulburn Talisman is coming this summer (probably in August)! The cover’s nearly finished and I’ll be revealing the title soon. If you haven’t read the first one yet, now’s the time to catch up.
(Grab a copy of The Soulburn Talisman or read the opening chapters here for free).
🎅 Second horror novel launching in December
My next horror novel (title will be revealed soon) is a weird but fun mix of slasher and sci-fi, and it’s very loosely connected to The Substitute. The cover’s in its final stages and I’m loving how it’s looking so far. Can’t wait for you to see it!
✍️ Signed copies incoming
I have a batch of physical copies of The Substitute on the way and I’ll sign them all. There’ll be very limited stock, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, you read the opening chapters for free right here.
📘 What I’m reading
I’m currently making my way through Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey and loving it so far! If you’re a fan of the TV show The Expanse, or sci-fi in general, you’ll enjoy it too.
Appreciate you being here!
Writing can be a very isolating gig, so having this little community around me genuinely means the world.
Talk soon,
David
PS. If you have any questions about my fiction work, don’t be afraid to ask!
Okay, is it allowable to just say “YAY to everything!” or am I committing a major offense here?
Every little subject and then the subsequent description of an upcoming project made me a happy girl. So I will be excitedly reading both ‘The Soulburn Talisman’ and ‘The Substitute.’ I think not one but two horror/thriller projects being announced… swoon.
I have to ponder on the vampire question - I’ve seen and read so much in that genre, I want to give you my best answer.
Yay everything! Had to say it again for emphasis.
